Salt & Light

men spirituality
"You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden." Matthew 5: 13-14

Jesus tells us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world ... well how does that work?

Jesus has the answers for you. Just listen to what he has to say to you and then act.

Easier said than done, you say. Just how?
Salt and Light can help. Join us for a conversation with God using Lectio Divina, God's word as presented in the Sunday Liturgical Readings, and a discussion with your peers. You'd be surprised at the results and the answers God has for you as you live your life.

Salt and Light - A Men's Spirituality Ministry meets on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month in the convent dining room from 8:00 - 10:00 am.

This ministry's goal is to form us men into Christ for others. Being salt of the earth, we can more easily season and preserve justice, peace, and love in our world. Being a light of the world, we bear witness to Jesus and his message and lead others to an encounter with him.

So, here’s a brief outline …
•    We begin each meeting with prayer using Lectio Divina … it is a Latin term that means "divine reading" and is a way of reading the Scriptures whereby we gradually let go of our own personal agenda and open ourselves to what God wants to say to us. Praying with Scriptures in this fashion is a fruitful way to grow our relationship with Jesus … the Word of God is alive and active and will transform each of us if we receive what God wants to give us.
•    Of consequence to each of us are the particular intentions, praises, and thanksgivings we would like to offer up for our brothers’ prayers … so we spend a few minutes asking Jesus to listen to our wants and needs and to answer them according to his holy will.
•    Lastly, we read and discuss the next day’s Mass Readings … our goal is to understand and gain wisdom about what Jesus and his Church are teaching and how we can apply what we hear and learn to our daily lives.

So, all this can be found in our typical agenda … just click here.

Next steps … Please come, join your brothers, and hear … Jesus does have something to tell you, and it's important!
