Our Adult Faith Formation Committee will host a special two-pronged presentation of its
popular Why Be Catholic program in celebration of the Feast of Divine Mercy with two relic
exhibits and a special speaker, Fr. Joseph Marquis, Pastor of Sacred Heart Byzantine Catholic
Church in Livonia.
On the weekend of the feast, April 26th & 27th, a first class relic of St. Faustina will be
available for veneration before and after all Masses. St. Faustina Kowalska was the Polish nun
to whom Christ revealed the mysteries of Divine Mercy and whom St. Pope John Paul II
canonized shortly before his death.
On the following Tuesday, April 29th, our Why Be Catholic speaker – Fr. Joseph Marquis, twin
brother of SMA parishioner Richard Marquis, will offer his testimony focusing on his particular
devotion to the saints and their sacred relics. As part of his talk, Fr. Marquis will display first
class relics of both St. Faustina and St. Pope John Paul II. The St. Pope John Paul II relic is the
pericardium of the saint who introduced the Feast of Divine Mercy to the Church and Fr.
Marquis will bless individuals who would like with this relic as part of his presentation, which
will be at 7:30 PM in the church.
