SMA offers the following Winter Sports:
Basketball (Boys & Girls, grades 4-8)
Bowling (Boys & Girls, grades 4-8)
   Cheer (Girls, grades 3-8)

  • CYO Season runs from November through March.
  • Boys and Girls in grades 4-8 are welcome to participate. Cheerleaders can start in 3rd Grade.
  • Bowling and Sideline Cheer are no-cut sports.
  • Basketball has tryouts and teams have a limited amount of players, so cuts may be necessary.

Students must be pre-registered, pay the athletic fee, and have an updated physical uploaded before tryouts.  Unregistered students will not be allowed to participate.

Cheerleading Information:

  • Practices will be 3:30pm - 5:00pm on Wednesdays and Fridays beginning in November in St. Michael Gym.
  • Cheerleading will participate in sideline cheer for basketball games and perform in a cheer competition (date TBD but will be toward end of the season).
  • Basketball games are targeted to start the first weekend in December.

Bowling Information:

  • Practices will begin in December and will be held on Mondays at Woodland Lanes.  Practice times still need to be coordinated with the bowling alley, but generally begin around 5:30pm.
  • Bowling matches are targeted to start the first weekend in January.

Basketball Information:

  • Basketball Tryout Times:
Registration for basketball is required to participate in Tryouts.  Attendance at all tryout sessions is mandatory to be considered for team placement.  SMA intends to form 8 teams:  Boys: Varsity 1 & 2; JV 1, 2 & 3 | Girls: Varsity 1; JV 1 & 2.
Varsity levels are for 7-8 grades and JV levels are for 4-6 grades with the level 1 teams being our top competitive team.  Tryout sessions are 90 minutes in duration and held in St. Michael's gym.

When you register your child for a sport, a current copy of their physical is due at the office.  If you do not have it when you register, you may upload it at any time, here.  Thank you!
Want to volunteer? SMA is looking for volunteers to help coach various sports that support our young athletes. We also are looking for volunteers to help with concessions and ticket sales.
